Material Persistence
Nikola Milojcevic

In Industrielle Best, Industrielle Marlboro and Industrial Cigarettes, Nikola Milojcevic transforms cigarette packaging drawn from earlier designs such as Sarajevska Drina and shaped by a brief personal memory of his grandmother’s “Best” cigarettes. While rooted in these references, the works turn toward a wider reflection on everyday waste and its often underestimated environmental impact.
Through enlargement and isolation, Milojcevic shifts disposable objects out of their usual anonymity. Their expanded scale reveals the material stubbornness of debris—its resilience, its quiet accumulation, and the ecological burden it carries. What typically slips past notice becomes a distinctive spatial presence.
By exaggerating these familiar forms, the sculptures make visible the tension between consumption, disposal, and the long-lasting imprint of waste on the world around us
