Maximiliano León
(b. 1986)
Lives and works in Vienna
Maximiliano León is a Mexican artist based in Vienna whose practice engages with identity, cultural exchange, historical memory and the construction of narratives through painting. Educated in Mexico and Vienna, including under Daniel Richter at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, León moves between Mexican and European references. His work often treats images, figures and objects as fragments through which personal and collective histories can be reconstructed.
